Entertain & Communicate – Scoreboards With Scale

Scoreboards, videoboards, ribbon LED advertising and digital entertainment are the key to standout event digital signage. Following on from Yap!digital’s landmark project for HBF Park stadium, our latest work for VenuesWest involved a new digital scoreboard for the Football West pitch venue at the State Football Centre in Queens Park.

Soccer at FootBall West

Football West has added a new state-of-the-art digital scoreboard to their sports ground in Queens Park to entertain and communicate with event participants. With over 230,000 WA based players in the sport, Football West, which is affiliated to Football Federation Australia, has created an environment that brings the game to life on parks, pitches and indoor centres around the state. The venue hosts a full fixture list serving WA clubs. For both event attendees and stay at home fans alike, the need to provide an immersive event and advertising fan experience has never been greater.

Scoreboard Digital Signage

Our scope of works for the Football West scoreboard included one large scale, outdoor LED Scoreboard, designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned by the Yap!digital team. The turnkey service provided VenuesWest with a low risk solution.

As you can see by the images, the scale of this digital signage installation is significant. The Yap!digital scope included a design, engineering, manufacture of structure, supply and installation of digital screens, commissioning and software training. Read more in our Case Study here.

Sized & Scoped for Impact

The LED scoreboard installed at Football West is 5760mm x 3840mm meters, offering a display viewing area in excess of 22m². With upgraded P6 modules, offering exceptional 9000 nit brightness, the screen is the first of its type in WA. The heat resistance of this solution increases from the normal range of 50-55˚C, up to 70˚C – a valuable offering considering summer temperatures in Perth.

Another scoreboard addition to provide a greater level of asset security was a solid aluminium fire-proof backing.

The scoreboard offers high visibility of the pitch antics for the game audience– including static and moving images, real time replays and scoring. Additional features include time, temperature and humidity data provided as live updates.

The Yap!digital Scope of Works

The Yap!digital scope of works included shop drawing design, documentation, engineering, procurement, fabrication, supply of services, delivery and storage on site, cabling, terminations, installation, configuration, programming plus testing and commissioning.

Logistical Considerations

Managing site works is always challenging and this project required careful planning due to the location of the scoreboard behind a fence. With existing reticulation pipes and landscaping the team had to be very careful to preserve the integrity of the surrounding area.  This, combined with a tight installation programme scheduled around soccer training and games, meant that our project management team had to meticulously run the project without impacting the pitch, venue or its users.

Needless to say the team handled the logistical considerations with professionalism to complete the works to schedule.
