CONFESSIONS OF A DIGITAL SIGNAGE BUSINESS OWNER – Part I

CONFESSIONS OF A DIGITAL SIGNAGE BUSINESS OWNER – Part I

pylon-1I have a confession!  And it’s something that I’m feeling rather ashamed about.

After many years in the signage game, and as someone that oft spouts about how business’ should regularly evaluate their signage as part of their marketing strategy, it was only yesterday that I really took time to look at our own pylon signage and think,

“does my pylon signage cut the mustard?”

I pass the business signage twice every day, and I must look at the signs 10 times a day as I gaze in thought out of my window, but do I REALLY take a good look and cast a critical eye over what’s right in front of my eyes.

I have to admit, the answer is no. First confession over! I have to failed in my own backyard …

What to do? Well in my book the route to forgiveness is action. Today we have a new branding in place with Yap!digital proudly in place on our pylon sign and other makeover’s in the programme for sometime soon (client works always come first of course!).

Learning from mistakes, the questions that I will now ensure that I pose on a more regular basis are:

  • How do we rate our current sign?
  • How well is it withstanding the tests of time? (it is 8 years old after all)
  • Does it need a makeover or facelift?
  • Is the information it’s displaying still relevant?
  • Could I add a digital component to the current sign?
