CRAZY HORSE RIDES ALONG WITH DIGITAL SIGNAGE

CRAZY HORSE RIDES ALONG WITH DIGITAL SIGNAGE

As you know, we keep saying that digital signage is spreading far and wide. So, the latest convert is none other than the world’s largest mountain carving which is a memorial dedicated to preserving the culture of Native Americans.

The objective: To improve the visitor experience at the memorial.

The solution: five interactive touchscreen displays for the visitor’s complex supplied by Toshiba.  Using a 55-inch display for the welcome center and four 46-inch displays in four areas of the visitor complex, the interactive displays are designed to be tour guides for visitors by offering information on the Mountain Carving Room, The Covered Porch, the Native American Education & Cultural Center, the Indian Museum of North America and more.

“Toshiba’s touchscreen displays serve as virtual tour guides…’ suggested the Centre.

The displays offer information on the Crazy Horse sculpture, as well as the history and culture of Native Americans in North America. Users, for example can watch a video called “Tools and Machines of the Mountain,” on how the memorial was created. They can also watch videos of memorial staff restoring Native American textiles from the past.

The displays also provide:

  • “answers to guests’ frequently asked questions
  • photos
  • videos
  • games for users such as interactive puzzles of the dome
  • a survey on user experience
  • staff training.

Toshiba also uses a content management system to update key elements of the deployment.

The memorial has seen overall improvement in guest experience since it deployed the digital signage in May 2016. The memorial saw a 30 percent increase in survey response. Of those surveyed, more than 80 percent said they had a positive experience at the memorial and would recommend it to others.
