INGOT HOTEL GETS A STAR RATING IN SIGNAGE

INGOT HOTEL GETS A STAR RATING IN SIGNAGE

It’s recognised that signage plays a vital role in the overall satisfaction of a guest’s stay. The Ingot Hotel is a case in point…  The Ingot Hotel is a new development, strategically positioned within 5 minutes’ drive of Perth Airport on the key transit road, Great Eastern Highway, which takes you in to the CBD. Catering for up to 204 guests, this is Choice Hotels biggest Asia-Pacific region hotel and has been a collaboration with Singaporean developers and franchisees.

We were commissioned by agency, The Brand Hierarchy, to deliver the hotel’s signage through manufacture and installation of a full suite of directional, wayfinding and back of house signage.

The hotel industry is like no other – a residential, leisure, and business support environment in ‘front of house’, combined with a fast-paced, 24 hour service delivery system in ‘back of house’ – each area with its own particular needs and challenges.

Hotel guest requirements range from the need to be able to operate as independently as possible in finding specific rooms, locations, staff or services (including support for special needs), to the very important need to be informed about particular events as well as safety and security procedures.

Wayfinding & statutory signage in hotels are an essential and efficient way of mapping or directing all your guests. These sign types should cater for multiple nationalities or use clear ‘internationally recognised symbols. Signs and notices on a hotel property need to be regulated in the interests of conservation and safety
to avoid confusion – especially relevant in carparking or vehicle access areas where distraction or obstruction of view to other road users can be a hazard. Wayfinding is an important issue for spatial orientation; for example, the points of entry to hotel must be clearly defined, convenient, free from hazards and appropriate for the purpose. Provision must be made for guests, staff, goods deliveries, refuse and garbage storage and removal, etc.

The success and enjoyment of a hotel environment is even more critical in a decade where the hotel industry is facing competition from online accommodation options, such as Airbnb, Stayz and HomeAway.
